To start diving with us you only need to buy basic kit.

Mask

the fit is important here; cheap holiday masks are generally no good for diving - they are too big and not robust enough. A good branded mask will last for years.

Fins

Ones that you wear with boots will mean you won't need to buy another pair when you start to dive open water - however if you already have some you wear on bear feet then these are ideal for pool training.

Snorkel

One with a drain valve on it will help you keep it clear of water.

Purchasing Kit

We have an arrangement with a local dive shop who will come in and do a kit sale before pool training starts. The kit is good quality and we negotiate an excellent price on your behalf. If you would prefer to buy your own, then please talk to one of the experienced members of the club who will you advise you of the latest designs and where to buy them.

Once you are qualified, you'll need to get a suit to dive open water. We have a range of dry and semi-dry suits in the club so if you fit one of these- great! They are dished out on a first come, first served basis. Otherwise you can hire them for the day from our usual training venue, Stoney Cove, for around £10. Cylinders, regulators, weight and BCD are all provided by the club.

As you progress with your diving career, you'll want to start to buy your own kit. The more experienced members of the club will be able to help you with this.

Other club kit that we use are our two compressors, three boats, navigation electronics and safety equipment including two emergency oxygen therapy kits with additional oxygen cylinders.
